Drummer Fabian Arends and Bassist David Helm are widely considered to be among the important young improvisers from the German creative music scene. With FOSTERCHILD they present their latest project; joining forces again as musical companions but also as co-bandleaders.

FOSTERCHILD is an impressively resonant and confident statement by two musicians who pursue their own musical vision. The intensity and vibrancy of the thoughtful music creates a world of it´s own. In different settings they explore striking musical territory from solo settings to a large ensemble consisting of 13 improvisers. The name of the band and this debut release FOSTERCHILD directly reflects the way this ensemble works. In the musical sense, they are constantly in search of new combinations and formations. The musicians give it their full attention, take it in and make it their own until it´s a part of themselves.

Deconstruction and Reorganization of roar and magic realism by Fabian Arends >>ReOAR<< is a 6-track EP formed and structured by Fabian Arends for the Cologne-based band Roar.. For each track Arends extracted specific and rather short samples of DNA from Roar ́s previously released records Roar (Klaeng Records) and Magic Realism (QFTF). These cells function as both source material and foundation for the six compositions on this EP. While extracting these cells Arends focused on inherent attributes and textures that are very characteristic for both the band ́s group interaction and each players nature. A primary objective was to enable the listener to sense the groups acoustic heritage from the perspective of a texturally electronic environment. ReOAR is based on source material taken from the Roar records Roar (released on klaeng records in 2017) and Magic Realism (released on QFTF in 2020).
